Hindu Pushup

The Hindu push up is a little advanced but it is effective. I love doing these especially when I'm on vacation. Easy to do and no equipment is needed so there's no excuse for not doing some strength training while you're vacationing.

I found a good video showing you how to do it. Now there is also a pushup called the dive bomber. It's just like this with one exception. Where you go through and push yourself back to the starting position in the Hindu pushup, in the dive bomber you reverse your movement. In other words. now you come back and push up to the starting position.

There are a lot of arguments as to which is best. Do whichever you like. My take on this? The dive bomber is tougher because you end up pushing yourself back up from a down position. Many times I do as many dive bombers as possible and finish with a couple Hindu's. But that's my take and I don't find it worth arguing about. Pick one or do both.

MI40

Discouraged with weight lifting?

Weight lifting can be time consuming. It becomes even more so when you follow the updated methods. There's only so much weight you can lift and so much time you can devote.

If gaining muscle quickly is your goal, Ben Pakulski is someone you want to listen to. With his method you learn how adding tension to your weight training is the real secret to gains. Not just adding extra weights to the bar. The bottom line is you can trick your muscles into thinking the weight you're currently lifting is 2, 3, 4 rimes more than it actually is.

The result is by properly adding this tension, your muscles grow quicker. Why? Because you'll be shocking them into growth using less weight but making them work harder. But, and this is important, it's not a walk in the park. You will be working hard. But the workouts will take less time and the results will be unlike what you're probably experiencing now.

I need to shut up and tell you to read the article by Ben because I'm making it sound confusing. So I will do just that. Read about MI40 right now.

Senior Olympics

The Senior Olympics is in the news at this time and I hope it encourages more people to exercise. Watching these older folks compete shows you can toss out the old age theories. You don't need to sit back and watch TV and nap a lot just because you age.

Watch TV and enjoy life because you've earned the right but make sure you keep your body in good physical condition so you can enjoy life more.

And younger people; make certain you are exercising regularly so you can be in condition when you age.

Pulls Ups

Adding pull ups and chin ups to my routine has made a huge difference if my upper body strength.

I know many people are unable to do even a single pull up. If that's the case, get yourself to the top of the bar however way you can and slowly, very slowly, lower yourself. Fight it and make it last. This is called a negative pull up but it produces positive results. Once you can do five of these in a row you should be able to do a single pull up.

Then simply continue adding. It's well worth the effort.

On a side note I've been asked about Ben's program. The Double Your Gains book you see on the right. This is a program for serious exercisers only. Yes it does work but you better be prepared to work hard. It's not for everyone.
